Youngest daughter rang to borrow the car for the weekend and to tell me that she had completed her exams for her final year in University. What a relief! Keeping her in University has been very costly and a struggle. Imagine my amazement when she dropped the startling news about 2 months ago that she had decided to work hard from then on to pass her degree as that would enable her to take out a graduate loan and travel the world.
I was astounded I mean I thought she WAS working for goodness sake, I knew that she had had problems with her health and had been failing her exams, but I thought that she had been doing her best. I suppose I could have been annoyed at being taken for a fool but I decided to forgive and forget and not even broach her with recriminations, absolutely no point. Two months is too short a time to study, if she passes it will be by the skin of her teeth.
Actually if she does pull it off and does get to go around the world I will have something else to look forward to as I would book a flight and meet her for a couple of weeks in an exotic location for a bit of a chill, the fact that I would have had more money to spend on myself if I hadn't supported her for all those years doesn't bother me one bit.
