Engrossed in the new programme about people waiting for heart transplants last night. The young girl involved I think her name was Gemma was from my home town of Bargoed. She seemed to have a manic lust of life knowing hers would be short if she didn't have a transplant and who could blame her.
They featured Harefield Hospital, that is where John, my husband, received his transplanted lung. I am glad it is five years on as the memories came flooding back. John reminded me of the man they featured with a little girl. He had the same gaunt look and breathless way of speaking. Yet at the time, if anyone had asked us how he was we would have replied that he was fine, we had a complete block and refused to believe anything other than he was okay. In fact after he died, people would try and make us feel better by saying 'well, he was ill for years' this would drive us insane, because after the operation he had a new lease of life.
The mother was shown coping while her husband was in hospital she said 'it was like being a single mother' I too struggled trying to put on a normal front when everything in our world was falling apart. John was a pillar of strength never complaining, leading by example. I had four young children when John was called in to have his operation.

I watched a programme the other night about people who had received a heart transplant finding their personality and tastes had changed to that of the donor, they believed they were being influenced by the person who had donated the heart.

In a queue in our local Spar waiting patiently for the cashier to stop talking to the customer she was serving who was chatting away nineteen to the dozen, I thought what on earth is he on about, I could see the cashier couldn't get a word in edgeways. In fact she rarely raised her head as she diligently swiped his articles. Grief is he that boring I thought, by this time I was getting a bit frustrated, couldn't he see there was a queue. With that he picked up his plastic bags and still chatting away merrily headed for the door.
The penny dropped, he was talking on a mobile phone, 'how rude' I exclaimed to an embarassed cashier who nodded her head in agreement.

My neice informed me today that there was an article in one of the Sunday supplement magazines stating that family festivals are on the way up as cool things to do. Apparently it said just check out a field near you ....that tickled me that did to think that our family are 'with it' without even knowing it.

Excuse the elongated picture of my brother but I am hopeless at putting photographs onto the computer I usually get one of the kids to do it for me. We ribbed him endlessly about his flag, he thought it was the best thing since sliced bread but what on earth did a frog have to do with anything?
Well, after a weather forecast of doom and gloom rain, the weather was excellent for our weekend.
I went 'speed dating' last night, I didn't have a clue what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised. On arriving I noted that there were a number of youngsters hanging around but at the same time there were a few in my age group.
In the corner they had a place for you to stand to have your picture taken it was lit up and you felt you were in the spotlight for all to see. Very un-nerving, very twichy smile and squinty eyes. From there your photograph, one man complained his made him look like a child molester, was displayed on a wall. You were encouraged to look at the wall and place a card underneath the person you liked, it was called a flirt wall.

I am being dragged along speed dating tonight. I have seen a little bit of it on the television but apart from observing women sitting at little tables and men doing a musical chair sort of dance I have no idea what to expect. I think people mark your card, isn't that funny, years and years ago women used to carry little books that men would mark to reserve a dance and get to know them.

Martha's boyfriend Scott has come up with the above idea for Georgia's new website I think it is really quirky and different to other logo's. If Georgia has an office she will fill it with shoes and the datemymother will probably have stilletoes.
The logo has to be tweaked a bit but we love the concept of when you meet your partner you walk through life with him or her, hence the shoes.
Where shall we go and what shall we do sort of Sunday, Father's Day it is always good to stay busy when there isn't a dad around. My daughter Martha had a very bad experience the week before last, luckily she managed to turn it around and make light of it but I could see the hurt through the blag.

Realised I am broke and need to find accommodation for 9 days in America so set about trying to find camping sites. The plan is we fly into Toronto hire a car and drive down to Florida, we thought we would save some money as the flight over to Toronto is £375 whereas, the flight to Orlando is £580.

Polished off a bottle of red wine watching the sunset down in Ogmore last night. Funny how absolutely relaxed and contented you can feel after a couple glasses. Mobile phones are so handy, I was down there with my son and his wife and my grand-daughter when they were contacted by my other daughter Corrie via the mobile phone to ask if anyone wanted to go for a barbecue down the beach.
Georgia had a good idea for Gowerbury, so off I trotted down town to find the materials to make the idea work. I scoured the 'Pound Stretcher' type of shops for tat, all my scouring left me with a hefty bill of £35. I wish she didn't have such expensive ideas!

Another letter on the table in a prominent position, great excitement because it is from the 'premium bonds' sent a text to my daughter to let her know it was there. 'letter from premium bonds, have you bought some or is it a win?'

Went up mams as she was moaning about not going anywhere in the nice weather, of course the sun went in didn't it but as it turned out mam liked that as she had been too hot. I took her to see Martha, the student daughter in Pontypridd. Martha has just moved into new lodgings, the last place she lived in was dark and dingy but the new place is like a breath of fresh air.

Here are the happy couple outside their shop, they are relocating from Leeds to Wales to follow their dream of owning a florist. Claire is my neice and Richard is her partner. They came down to Wales today to have a meeting with the builder to specify their needs as the shop is being gutted enabling Claire to have a say in the lay out.

Had an unexpected day off and decided to make the most of it, thankfully, Corrie had a day off too her plans of going camping down the Gower had fallen through. Having experienced a lovely meal in the Pelican and noticing the people next to me last time were tucking into faggots and peas with great relish I persuaded her to come out to lunch with me. She ordered the fish and I had the faggots, I have a funny feeling she will be partaking of the faggots on the next occasion though as they really are lip smackingly delicious.
We ended up with our books on the beach at Ogmore. It was really hot so I decided to go into the sea for a paddle.

Only two weeks to Gowerbury and I have to find something funny to say for 5 mins. How on earth am I going to do that? I have had ideas about designing the tee shirt but as for being funny, well, for a start I can never remember the punch line of a joke, this proves very frustrating, surprisingly not for the people listening because my rendition is so boring they lose interest and their eyes start wandering but for me, I would really like to know how it ends!

I have been really looking forward to today for ages, I couldn't believe my luck when it turned out so sunny, I had a date to meet my two friends for lunch at the Pelican in Ogmore by Sea. I have known them for years and years one of them recently lost her mother and it was our chance to find out how she was coping as her mother died very suddenly and unexpectedly.

Georgia had the letter from the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition she was in work when it arrived. It lay propped up on the sauce bottle, brought back memories of the film 'Billy Elliot' when he comes home in the film, the letter is there from the Royal Ballet propped up on the sauce bottle.
There was a hush when she opened it, I searched her face for any expression of delight, but it was not to be, the letter thanked her for entering the exhibition but went on to explain over 9,000 entries had been received and they were sorry to inform her that she had not been selected for exhibition.

I hate change. I cannot get on with this new computer, I turn it on, and wait and wait and swear a bit, I had a relationship with my other computer I understood what keys to press to get a response but this new one has a mind of its own.
Georgia has just come off the phone to a radio station in Australia, how insane is that? We are up at 6 a.m. tomorrow to do an interview on Radio Wales and Bridge FM....I feel like Victoria Beckham. Well, a big fat Victoria Beckham.
The insanity cannot last much longer, it is funny it is, one minute you can be living a humdrum sort of life and the next minute you can be in the fast lane... I thought things like this happened to everyone else.

I love sunny days, unfortunately, I had to work today, but now I am home and I have had a telephone call from my son inviting me to a barbecue. A radio programme has just telephoned to ask if they can interview me about www.datemysister.co.uk tonight at 845 p.m. so I will have to come back from the barbecue early and abstain from drinking.
Mind you I might make more sense after a couple of glasses of wine. Life is so exciting lately, phone ringing, offers pouring in, Georgia says she wants to go on the Opra Winfrey show, usually I would laugh and scoff at this idea but the way things are going I could see her on the David Letterman show any time now.
I have to laugh at myself sometimes I mean I do my best to try and stay anonomous blogging and then I get famous in Siberia! Yes, we had an email from someone called Mike in Siberia today saying that

It has been a long time since I went 24 hours without sleep but it happened last night! Georgia and I were up checking out the replies to www.datemysister.co.uk when we came across an exciting one from GMTV asking if we were still up would we give them a ring.
Georgia telephoned and was asked if she could make it to London by 6.60 a.m.
