Suicide watch

There was a collective gasp in my son's living room when they announced that Nicky was to be booted out of the big brother house. We looked at each other in shock, the expression on Nicky's face was one of incomprehension, puzzlement, well the usual plethora of expressions that she has on her face really.

Ask me the question?

When the dollar was 180 to the pound I thought greedily to myself that I would wait for it to hit 2 dollars to the pound before investing in my holiday money. How wrong was I? It is now 1.75!! I walk into the travel agent once a week and say 'ask me the question' and he says 'the rate of the dollar against the pound?' and I say 'yes' he delivers his news tentatively and I say something along the lines of 'you are kidding me....bum...bye' He is used to me now and hardly raises an eyebrow.

Right place. Right time.

Say what you like about football and its domination of the television for the last few weeks, I have enjoyed the party atmosphere. Last night for example my daughter had a get together to watch the final, I found that I liked watching fit young men running around looking very fiery and competitive.

Fishy Zebra Crossings

Drove through Penarth town yesterday, they have enough zebra crossings on the main street to start a whole new 'Tufty' club! (Tufty was the little soft toy used to demonstrate safely crossing the road by road safety officer's visiting schools when my children were little).
The people of Penarth seem to take it for granted that vehicles will stop as they come charging out of an arcade entrance straight on to the road. I counted 5 crossings on the main street two of them were leading on to roundabouts it is insane. I have come to the conclusion that they must have an elderly population and need to protect them. Hark at me elderly, I am considered elderly...

Tourettes

I watch the highlights of 'Big Brother' every night at 9 p.m. I am fascinated by the interaction between the larger than life characters. I have to pat them on the back though because I had no idea about Tourettes until they featured Pete.

Passed the test

Well, he did it he passed his driving test! The last time I saw my nephew Daniel behind the wheel of a car was a good 10 years ago I believe, we were in a long snaking queue out of the Glastonbury Festival. I was keeping an eye on him in my rear view mirror as he had huge 'L' plates and wicked look of anticipation on his face, plus the fact he was behind me and could have run into my boot at any time.

Litter bugs

Up to my ankles walking in the sea on Ogmore beach when I came across some old friends also out enjoying the sun. To my surprise they were a little agitated. 'We almost had a punch up' the wife said 'You almost had a punch up' I repeated incredulously as they were not the type of people to start a fight on a beach or anywhere else for that matter.

Royal Academy Summer Exhibition.

Painting.jpg

This is the painting that Georgia submitted to the Royal Academy's Summer Exhibition. Her friend Phil went to London to collect it as if you leave it there over the permitted date they charge you £15 a week storage! Georgia specializes in painting shoes, if she does succeed with datemysister.co.uk when it goes live sometime in July she will have an office filled with paintings of shoes.
The BBC have just started a behind the scenes of the Summer Exhibition explaining the history of it and the prestigious painters who have been rejected, Georgia is in good company. It is a fascinating programme, we watched it carefully, especially the part which showed how the judging took place. We were hoping to catch a glimpse of Georgia's entry. It was not to be though the BBC had realised that entrants would be viewing and to spare their feelings they did not show the paintings being judged.

Living for today

John was prepared for the operation and I was left on a ward to wait, I sat with the nurses on the night shift, it was a wierd twilight existance. When I was allowed to see John, not that long after the operation, I remember being supported by a male nurse. I think he was expecting me to faint, he was warning me that John would have tubes coming out of his body but that he was doing fine.
