We drove through the beautiful mountains of New York State and spotted signs for Amish crafts.....
I was delighted to see people in old fashioned long dresses and bonnets. When we saw a sign for Amish quilts we pulled over. It was a lovely old white house on the side of the road. An old woman in a long blue dress and bonnet called us over.
'Come on in' she said. We noticed a basket full of little kittens in the shade under her house. Corrie spent the next 5 mins cwching them.
Eventually we went inside her home. She had quilts everywhere. She asked us for 350 dollars a quilt first off, but as we talked the price kept going down and down. In the silences I thought I heard someone fart. But the third time I was sure and I could see Corrie giggling so I said 'You have some problem with wind there girl' she laughed and said 'Yep, it happens everytime I eat onions' and we all laughed.
We ended up buying a little quilt to put on the back of a settee, all handmade for 30 dollars. She smiled, farted again, and waved goodbye...
We pulled into a thrift shop. This is where you buy second hand clothes and stuff...I was looking for a high chair ready for Casey to come over...ended up buying a silk pair of trousers for 7 dollars and missing the worse thunder storm you could ever imagine. I thanked God we had no been driving in it.
The lady in the thrift shop gave us a gift for Casey and wished us a safe journey. Really having a wonderful time.
