There was a collective gasp in my son's living room when they announced that Nicky was to be booted out of the big brother house. We looked at each other in shock, the expression on Nicky's face was one of incomprehension, puzzlement, well the usual plethora of expressions that she has on her face really.
She obviously didn't expect Big Brother to be so harsh. Well, let's face it you rely on your big brother to protect you not throw you to the hoards. As she quickly collapsed into hysteria and tears I felt myself getting angrier and angrier. It wasn't the fact that she was being humiliated on national television, it can't be that as I have seen a number of housemates face that fate, but it was the bullying element. I found myself shouting 'right, stop it now, leave her alone!'
It was like watching someone die. She is anorexic, a complete mess personality wise, over indulged and fragile, I don't think it would take much to push her right over the edge into suicide. What were they thinking of when they were choosing her as a contestant.
Having said all the above it was riveting television. How long will it be before someone does kill themselves over appearing on this programme? Nicky is a front runner in my opinion, she will now be tossed into some sort of super stardom for a little while, throw a few more publicity seeking tantrums and end up dead treading in the footsteps of other famous sensitive stars. The public love to put people like Nicky on pedestals and knock them off, throwing the balls at the co-co nuts, hitting their hard outer shells exposing the soft centre for all to knaw.
Will I be watching 'Big Brother' tonight......you betcha.....
