No Room at the Inn

Saw the White House and the George Washington Monument on electric wheels. We had to wear a helmet and balance inbetween two rubber wheels. You had to press with your toes to go forward and press with your heels to go backwards. There was a device on the handle bar for you to use to turn. Well, look here I didn't know if I was coming or going. I had to sign something to say if I killed anyone I would be responsible. After running over my foot I wasn't feeling too confident. In fact, it wasn't until the end of the tour I began to feel okay, and then we had to hand them back in. The youngsters took to it like ducks to water.
Enjoyed Washington and decided to drive down to Virginia beach. That is when our problems began. We arrived approximately 9 p.m. in the evening on the outskirts and we were caught in traffic but we were not too worried and looking forward to a swim. One and a half hours later we still had not found lodgings everywhere was packed out.
We had to admit defeat and drive another half an hour back the way we came to find lodgings joining another line of traffic also looking for a place to sleep. We were so tired. But how were we to know that the whole of America would be looking for lodgings at Virginia Beach!
We drove early the next morning away from there as we couldn't face going back again and have ended up on Atlanic Beach. We found really clean lodgings at a reasonable price at the Caribbe just off the beach. The owners were teachers and therein lay the problem. They had so many rules and regulations you felt you had to talk in whispers all the time. Mind you the room was spotless I would say the cleanest room we have ever stayed in.
Everywhere we go people remark on our accents and ask where we are from. It seems a lot of us tend to stick to the holiday resorts of America and they don't see a lot of Brits around here. Had a great night out last night had dinner overlooking the ocean with a nice glass of white wine. Then it was off to sing Karoke in the bar. We got home at 1 30 a.m. crept on tip toe so as not to wake up our hosts, up early and down the beach this morning. This is the life I can tell you. I could get hooked on all this sun shine and laid back attitude to life.
