So darn hot.

We decided to head down the coast to Jacksonville, little did we know the long and drawn out journey ahead of us was to go on and on and on.....

It was really, really hot, lucky for us we have very good air conditioning in the car. So far we have been lucky with the mileage and managed to stop when we have been feeling tired. But yesterday. Everytime we thought we should call it a day and came off the main route the places didn't appeal to us.
We were really whacked at one place but there were two huge power stations staring us in the face so we were determined not to stop there. At another junction further down the road we followed signs to a non existant motel and gave up looking and got back on again. The red lights all merged into one.
Luckily we saw a sign for St. Augustine and I had heard good things about it. Corrie gripped the wheel and said "I can do this" I couldn't have done it my eyes were playing tricks on me we had been driving for at least 7 hours.
The last hour was the worse. But we have been rewarded. St. Augustine is beautiful. We have a hotel on the beach. We were up early this morning we booked an umbrella for 15 dollars for the day we used two chairs we picked up in the thrift shop for 3 dollars each, that saved us a further 10 dollars. We sat on the beach until lunch time, crossed the road for food and then returned to the beach and our novels, pausing just to cool off in the sea every now and again. We will leave the two little chairs when we go home. Shame really I am getting very attached to mine.
Just been out to a place with live music it was so hot I thought I was going to faint. Apparently they had had a power cut and their air conditioning was down. They had to shut the place early. I was disappointed because the band that were playing were real characters, they were making their own words up to popular songs. The lead singer had a huge beard like Father Christmas an old battered hat and baggy jeans. The sax player didn't have any front teeth but he had plenty of talent. I just knew it would have been a good night if the power hadn't failed.
Up early tomorrow to meet the gang at Orlando airport then the party will really begin. Planning to do some shopping for food so that they can get straight into their holiday without worrying about what they are going to eat and drink.
