The Blitz boys storm the festival

We were given a map to get to the Crow Point Festival in Newport, it would have been better if we had had a treasure map from Captain Jack Sparrow for all the good it did us.....

Took directions from a very friendly mechanic in the end and luckily drove right up to the entrance. We were issued our free blue armbands (which we assumed were for re-entry) and set off to explore the sights.
I was really happy because it had a mini-Glastonbury feel about it. Claire my neice was in the hospitality tent as she had donated the bouquet to the Mayor. A nice young man queried my credentials when I stepped over the line into the hallowed ground. I looked at him increduously and said 'I am not in there, I am just this side of the line, onlooking' 'I've got my eye on you' he answered but he was very nice.
A huge bridge dominated the horizon which I later discovered was 100 years old, my brother insisted on gathering everyone together to go and climb the blinkin thing. I was not to be moved, remember I had worked all day, but the others were up for the challenge so off they trotted. While my niece and I took refreshments in the beer tent.

We got the better part of the deal as when we arrived there we heard the sound of rapping music coming from the tent adjoining. Curious we approached and were treated to a group of young boys, they couldn't have been any older than 12 years, break dancing to the singers performance. They were excellent, attacking the ground with their bodies, bouncing around like Michael Jackson, the crowd went wild, egging them on and shouting, and the more they were encouraged the more they performed. At the end of the stint I called them over and took their photograph. They call themselves 'Blitz Boys' and they are trying to get sponsorship for their group. They would be a coup for anyone running any sort of festival or event as they exude childish energy and joy of life.
My brother and gang on the other hand was stuck on the gate having transported himself and party over the bridge arriving to discover he was denied entry. Out of the whole gang who breezed past the steward my brother and his wife were stopped in their tracks. They proceeded to show their blue wrist bands to no avail. There is no way they were going to be let back in and I was relying on a lift back with them so things were looking pretty gloomy when I received the news.
Joy of joy shortly after another mobile call came through with the news that brother and wife were now stuck back stage. 'What' I said 'Quick, get over there, knowing him, he will wander on' and how right I was. The two of them had managed to avoid the steward, and were helped through the fence by two drunks and found themselves to their horror back stage, with no way out and no way in other than to cross the stage!
Everywhere was a dead end, speakers and wires all over the place but not to be deterred they took a deep breath and headed to the front of the stage, facing a baying crowd, luckily a small gap appeared at the side of the front, so they took courage and confidently strode through.
A quick ride on the fair and it was time to go. Could we get out NO we tried two exits before find the right one got fed up so ended up going through a gap in the hedge again. The festival is on today headlining 'Goldie Looking Chain' I believe it is well worth a visit we had a very good time.

Have to agree the festival was great but the security / red tape seemed a bit hardline! If you've got photos why not post them on http://flickr.com/groups/crowpoint
