I am having a new decking put out the back, my daughter said that my old table and chairs (table has a hole in the middle) would make it look dowdy....
She took matters into her own hands as follows....
I know this is a long shot but i wondered if anyone had bought a new
set of patio table and chairs this summer and had an old set in their
garage. We have just had a new decking done and we have a massive hole in our
plastic table.. and my mum said... It will do... but my plate could
fall through it.
Georgia posted the above message on Freecycle.org this is an amazing site that allows people to re-cycle the stuff they don't want. One student recently kitted out his flat without spending a penny using this site.
To our amazement and joy we had this reply this morning....
Hi
I have a patio set you can have . Its all wooden, with a wooden slatted table and four chairs. Would look nice when re-treated on your decking. Table needs to be repaired , as some of the slats have come away - I still have them, so if you are at all diy , no probs. Moving , so you are welcome if you want. I live in Porthcawl.
We contacted the gentleman concerned and we are picking it up on Tuesday night. He has got conservatory furniture too but we don't have a conservatory. He is moving and needs to get rid of a lot of stuff.
What a great idea! If only I had known about it back in May when I was clearing out the garage, I threw a lot of stuff out that could have been re-cycled. Richard of 'The Bee Orchid' goes out of his way to re-cycle stuff as does my daughter Georgia, this new site is the way forward, it certainly encourages me to have a go....I might put myself on there....recycled teenager...
