My mam has always been very particular with her appearance and as ill as she feels she keeps mentioning that she would like her hair done
When the palative nurse called I told her that mam was keen to have a mini make-over and that I had tried to get a mobile hairdresser but had been unsuccessful. The nurse gave me the number of the local old age people's home and said that she knew someone called to the home and that they would be able to help me.
I rang the home and spoke to, well, if you have seen the comedy sketch from 'Little Britain' where the answer is always 'the computer says 'no' you would understand my utter desperation when the woman on the end of the phone kept repeating 'we can't give out telephone numbers' I explained the situation and she kept repeating the same mantra... The home is only minutes away up the road I was ready to jump up walk up and punch her teeth down her throat, but I can't leave our mam.
I kept my temper and asked her if she knew anyone at all that I could contact who would be able to help. To my amazement she did give me a telephone number. When I got through to that contact number the person I spoke to couldn't have been kinder and did provide me with a mobile hairdresser's number.
I spoke to Jane the local hairdresser explained the situation and I have booked my mam an appointment for Thursday morning, mission accomplished.
