Held at gunpoint

Posted by Boudica on December 8, 2006 5:35 PM |

We sent our Georgia off with quite a lot of money to meet a stranger in a petrol station on the M4 at Reading, it wasn't until we had waved her off that we realised it could have been a con and that they could just take the money off her at gunpoint, apparently it is a new way of robbing people. They arrange a meeting knowing the person they are conferring with has quite a lot of money in readiness for buying a car or some other item they had previously advertised, buyer turns up and the seller demands the money at gunpoint.

The woman Georgia was meeting was a 'Michelle' from just outside Reading she was selling her 100 percent chihuahua because she had young children who were treating the dog as a teddy bear.
Thankfully, Georgia did the deal safely, she forwarded a picture of the chihuahua to my other daughter's mobile phone. Guess what! The one hundred percent chichuahua was not a chihuahua. I screamed down the phone to her 'Georgia, that is not a chichuahua don't part with a penny' Too late, Georgia had already left the meeting point she had thought that the dog looked a little strange but had just put it down to her being a different breed of chihuahua. Oh, yeah, one with floppy ears and long legs...
Georgia drove straight to the vets in Bridgend. They said it was probable that 'Deri Dee' (that is her name) had a little bit of something else in her, something else!!!! I paid a fortune for her.
I have been well and truly stitched up. I am thinking of going to the small claims court, how can people be so dishonest! As for 'Deri Dee' she is a cutie, Samui is quite taken with her and watches her every move with curiosity. She is very nervous and hates people standing over her before they pick her up, she pees herself with fright, which signifies to me she must have had quite an unfortunate start to life.
I re-contacted Michelle on her mobile phone to ascertain whether Deri Dee was in fact a pedigree. 'Absolutely, 100 percent' Michelle was emphatic...but since the visit to the vets Michelle doesn't answer her mobile.

If you wanted a chihuahua, why didnt you just go to a proper breeder who knows that their dogs are fit and healthy.
Or you could have equally phoned the chihuahua society and rehomed one of the many chihuahuas that are homeless each year.

By doing this you may have been buying a stolen dog, or a dog bred by a Back Yard Breeder. This animal with its health unchecked and genetics unmonitored may suffer from many heriditary illnesses eg. hip dysplasia.

Next time you, or anyone else for that matter wants an 100% chihuahua, go to a 100% real breeder, with heathly dogs and kennel club pedigrees.
Or go to a chihuahua specific rescue.

If she doesnt have a pedigree you cant do a terrible lot about it.

At least you have learnt this lesson - albiet the hard way.
