THREE HUNDRED POUNDS that is how much!!! I nearly fell off my chair, I hadn't realised that I didn't have insurance for windscreen shattering covered in my policy. I was devastated and angry. Luckily I thought to ring the mechanic in my local garage, I have built up a very good relationship with the guys there since my husband died. I mean up until that time I had never had to go to a garage, it was a strange experience at first, but I eventually got the hang of it.
He advised me to shop around and do you know I found a company able to repair it for £115 how insane is that? How can they qualify being so expensive for doing exactly the same job? If I had been insured I would have had to have paid a £75 excess, I think I can live with the fact that I have had to fork out just £40 more as a penalty. I am going to ring my insurance company to find out how much more they would charge me to have my windscreen included in my insurance and if it works out at over £40 I am going to tell them to stuff it where the sun don't shine!
