Valantine's day is looming on the horizon, we have all been put on standby for 'The Bee Orchid's' busiest day of the year. My brother and his wife are coming down from Melton Mowbray to help out...
Apparently one person has to drive and the other has to leap out and deliver the romantic offerings of bouquets and chocolates. Claire is including free chocolates with every bouquet ordered, very clever business move I thought. Well, I was of the opinion that my brother and I would be in one car, as I know the area so I would drive and he would leap out to knock on people's doors but no the other night when discussing tactics I was told 'No, way are you and Uncle Gareth going in the same vehicle, you would get up to too much trouble, you pair' First off I was offended, then I caught Richard's eye, I knew the game was up, it is well known in family circles if Gareth and I are left to our own devices we get into all sorts of trouble. And if our brother Roger was on the scene that would be double trouble.
I remember one incident we were all driving back from the Edinburgh festival when we decided to stop for food. We ambled into a local pub. As we entered the door and made for the bar a man said in a broad accent help yourself to the spread. We looked and to our amazement a table in the corner was laden with all sorts of goodies. Of course Gareth and Roger were off plates in hand, I thought it was a little strange as everyone was dressed in black..and looking more than a little depressed....as they were filling their plates I whispered, 'boys.....this is a wake....' with that plates were downed and we did a little side shuffle to the door smiling and nodding.
