My windows are dirty, very dirty. I have been searching for a window cleaner for at least a year. I spotted someone cleaning the windows in the street behind my back lane. I pleaded with them to clean mine too but they said that they were too busy to take on more work!
If I wasn't getting on a bit I would buy myself a ladder and a bucket and a shammy leather and make myself a fortune in my street alone. What happened to all the young lads wanting to make a bob or two?
When I visited Kent a couple of years ago we went on an historic boat trip, the guide told us of the taxes you had to pay if you had extra windows. People used to board them up to save money, that's where the expression 'daylight robbery' comes from, I might have to board up my windows in shame. My gran would have my guts for garters if she could she the state of them!
