The Blin Bags

When my daughter was in University in France she was given an opportunity to stay with a French family to improve her skills in the language. Every weekend she would be welcomed into their home as part of their family.

Point to Point

Driving home down the A48 past 5 mile lane and I noticed a sign saying "Point to Point" today. The weather wasn't that good a bit chilly but the sun was breaking through now and again. I remembered attending a "Point to Point" many years ago with my Aunty Pam. I must have been about 8 years old and mad on ponies.

Ideal Home Exhibition

I decided to deal with all mam's possessions that I have stacked floor to ceiling in my garage. Lots of cups and saucers, pots and pans, the usual every day things that we keep in our cupboards.

Getting confused

Confusion sets in a lot with me these days. I was patting myself on the back for actually booking the hotel in Australia where my nephew plans to get married. I had been putting it off and delaying it as I was trying to afford a more expensive room. I decided enough was enough and that I wouldn't be spending that much time in the room anyway so I booked the cheaper room.

Postman with Personality

I was in my front room with my grand-daughter the other day when there was a loud rap on the window, I turned to see a friendly smiling face, he waved and indicated for me to open the door...

Ironed breasts

Turned up outside "The Recreation Centre" Bridgend at 9 a.m. ready for my appointment with the Bron Brawf Cymru (Breast Test Wales). Women my age have their breasts examined for cancer every 5 years I believe.

Starting young.

I am determined that my grand daughter will be familiar with the local library, and I was delighted to find out from Natalie her mother that on a recent shopping trip to Bridgend, Casey pointed at the library and said quite clearly "books"

On a mission

My neice Claire of "The Bee Orchid" fame, listened intently to my sorry story of how I couldn't get the dress that I wanted for her brother's wedding in Australia my size in "Monsoon". I had followed the advice and telephoned special numbers, contacted other Monsoon stores all to no avail...

To be or not to be organic....

We had a Jamie Oliver type tasting in my kitchen over the bank holiday. My brother Gareth and his wife came down to help get Claire and Richard's house renovated and I had offered to cook dinner. Quite a task as there were 9 of us in all....

The young Vote

I have been talking to a lot of disillusioned young people, I have read them the riot act and emphasised that women died for us to have the right to vote, but my words fell on deaf ears, the suffragettes must be turning in their grave...
