I was in my front room with my grand-daughter the other day when there was a loud rap on the window, I turned to see a friendly smiling face, he waved and indicated for me to open the door...
During the conversation that followed with my new postman I detected an American accent, "Where are you from?" I enquired.."New York" he said quite matter of factly, of course that raised my next question. "What are you doing over here working as a postman?"
"Do you remember 'The Twin Towers'?" "Yes" I answered expecting him to say that he had had a narrow escape in the atrocity "Do you remember that man who shot people buying petrol?" I had to think about that one so there was a bit of a pause and I said "Yes" he continued "all that explosive stuff sent throught the post?" ...really didn't remember that but said "Yes" convincingly I hope.
"I married a nice Welsh girl and moved to Wales to get away from all that" Do you mind if I take your picture" was my next question as I am really getting into posting photographs on my blog they get lots more comments and add colour to the blog. "Not at all" he said and struck a pose on my doorstep.
His name is Tyler and he makes me happy as he has such a sunny personality and friendly smile, I will have to make sure I have lots and lots of letters for him to deliver to my door.
