The young Vote

Posted by Boudica on May 3, 2007 7:49 PM |

I have been talking to a lot of disillusioned young people, I have read them the riot act and emphasised that women died for us to have the right to vote, but my words fell on deaf ears, the suffragettes must be turning in their grave...

RIGHT WHERE IS THAT POLLING STATION...

I don't think it is just the young who think that their votes don't count I think older people are beginning to question the validity of voting. I know that one of my neighbours is very upset by the fact the council are considering leaving the rubbish collection for two weeks. I am sure if they had bothered to ask the electorate if they would be willing to leave their smelly rubbish outside their back doors to stink in the warm weather the answer would have been 'not on your nelly!'
Councils and politicians are out of touch with the general public, they are failing to convince us they have our best interests at heart. Having said all that I toddled along to vote this morning.

Are people beginning to realise that so-called democracy is a farce???? Big business & big lobby groups rule the roost. And there is very little difference, in effect, between the major parties, whether in the U.S., U.K. or Oz, despite election-time rhetoric. Joe Blow the voter is more or less superfluous....
