Paul Potts contestant Britain's got Talent

Posted by Boudica on June 14, 2007 11:07 PM |

How can it be that such a huge talent can go undiscovered for years and years? It took Simon Cowell to come up with an idea of finding hidden talent encouraging people to come out of the closet, so to speak, and boy did he unleash some surprises!

Paul Potts stood on the stage his body language hiding his magnificent vocal chords. His head to one side, he looked slightly dishevelled and shy until the chords of the music for 'Nessun Dorma' filled the auditorium. His eyes lit up and his body filled out as he took his first breath....as he did and hit the first note the audience gasped in amazement and joined him in his dream.
My daughter was so entranced she immediately started a Paul Potts appreciation society on "Face Book.com" ...The Paul Potts Fan Club ..she calls herself..."Perfectly Normal". You can also catch his performance on http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1k08yxu57NA ...she wants to encourage people to vote for Paul and drum up some fans.
There is one thing I know for sure and that is Paul Potts will never have to go back to the 'car phone warehouse' Bryn Terfyl if you are reading this ....as if.... please, help this guy out, all he needs is a mentor.

Mr Paul Potts a complete surprise! A God sent. He showed beautiful modesty, humbleness that we all need. And his voice was what I needed to hear to calm me with delight and give me the must needed peace from the turmoil of this world.

I listened to him for more than 15 times and still I am delighted to hear more.

Thank you Paul....

I loved him, . Where has he been hiding, and how sad that his voice was his only friend as a child. He has got my vote.

Mr. Paul Potts, your stunning performance brought tears streaming down my face. NO song, no performer has ever effected me or anyone else I know this way. You got it buddy! Paul, I think you have something no one else in the world has, a Sparkly, specially Blessed talent, great enough to bring a whole wide world to agreement on something, your beautiful. I promise I will purchase your work. It seems as though the whole world is now in love with Opera and Paul Potts! I foresee you'll become a huge hit in America too. God Bless you!
PS, Extra prayers are for you to always remain as innocent and perfect as you are right now. I'm asking for Angels, lots of them, to watch over you and keep you free from harms way and those who would work against your best interest by personal greed.

Paul, your gift, is yours and God's forever, please strive to remain the owner of your work. Best advice I can provide. I am a professional author and it's important to maintain control.
Good luck to you always. Thank you for your tremendous display of courage.

I hope Paul Potts is aware of the enormous fan base he's getting in the US thanks to the youtube clip! His voice is magnificant and he's teaching everyone to not judge a book by its cover!
Being of Welsh descent myself, I was doubly proud to share the video with everyone in my email address book!
It's wonderful to see someone like Paul have a venue where their talent receives the recognition it deserves! When will we know if he's won the grand prize?
I hope he's reading everything positive written about him! He deserves these accolades and so much more!
Boy oh! Paul!!

Oh boy - and did he grow! When Paul Potts got introduced he seemed to be quivering with nerves and shrinking, and like a host of souls I willed him to do something decent, at least get a suit out of it - that was my thought. Then he began to sing....and the whole world suddenly felt so much better to live in. Thank you so much Paul, I believe your future is assured.

Marshall Heminway III wrote...

Paul Potts is very much appreciated here in America ... overwhelmed actually after the clip was shown on Fox News. I think he should change his name to "Paulo Pottsarotti". Is the Prince of Wales aware of this new Welsh hero? Has His Highness offered his congratulations yet? Wake up, Charlie!

Paul,
You pierced my heart. You give hope that the world still has magic. The beauty of your gift gives courage to others to loosen the bonds that hold their talents in thrall. Your choice to submit your application, to stand before the judges and the world and say, "I will sing opera' are inspirational.
If one other person gains the courage to share their particular secret gift, your time on this earth will have been worthwhile.
Thank you.

You are so talented, you have the most amazing voice, how you haven't been discovered before now I don't know.
Well done! I know you will win the competition and if you don't then there is seriously something wrong with the tv viewers out there.
Good luck in the competition and your new career as an opera singer.

I am 21 and when I heard you sing in the semi-final I said to my mum, "I hope he gets a record deal, coz I want his album." And I don't even listen to opera music!! You touched my heart and have given me a new fondness of opera. Thank you.

Mark Hutcherson wrote...

Looks like Paul Potts' will be downloaded more than 10 million times on YouTube before his new album is released in a couple of weeks. The whole Paul Potts grass-roots ground swell is unbelievable to me because I really didn't think these kinds of rags to richest stories really happened in the world anymore. Paul has an amazing voice and a hard life story billions of people around the world can relate to. As Simon said, "Paul Potts is a complete breath of fresh air".

Donald Mooney wrote...

Paul Potts is "just what the dictor
( of the world ) odered. In an age
when hope and trust are is short
demand ... Paul "did it" without
having to do it. He opened his mouth
and God came forth . The music came
"through him" not merely out of him.
And, everybody that reacted knew that
they were experiencing more than an
entertainer. They were the recipients
of a 'well needed' message that there
is hope for humanity. The prase
belongs to Paul ... the sound belongs
to the world ... all future
generations . No one will ever sound
like this man again . No one has
before.

Dennis McGinlay wrote...

Hi
Paul Potts is O.K. but untill you have heard Ericson & Sledge, 'you aint heard nothin yet.' As a singer with 40 years experience (and a good one at that) being a 'good singer' is nothing when you can actually do it. I'ts no great shakes because you have the talent or experience to do it. It's like being a good plummer or carpenter etc. It's unexplainable. Paul Potts is just one of the lucky ones. Good luck to him.

I just wanted Paul Potts that I think his voice is wonderful to listen to. He ranks with the best of the best to me. Every time I play his "One Chance" it brings me to tears. I hope that someday he will be with some of the best Tenors and sing his heart out. I do hope he has another CD comming out soon. He seems like such a down to earth man and pleasent to be with. Please let us hear more of him. Terri Novak, USA, Illinois
