You only live twice..

I left Fiji on 31st of August at 11 p.m. and arrived in Hawaii on 31st of August at 7.30 a.m. I couldn't believe it, I had already had a full day in Fiji and now I had the same day again, different country but how cool is that??

Brawl in the Uprising in Fiji

We went out looking for a bit of exicitement and boy did we find it. Roger asked around to try and find somewhere with a bit of "go" in it as our place was very quiet and sedate. A guy he trained with suggested a place called "Uprising" just down the road from us so off we set full of expectation.

Home stay in Fiji

I was lying in a river watching the women washing their clothes laughing and splashing each other pinching myself, telling myself I was in Fiji....thinking, I wish we washed our clothes in a river in our country, it seemed such a social happy occasion not the dreary drudge we have to contend with.

Burping Massage

We are in The Tsulu Arts Village in Pacific Ocean Fiji and it is raining! Roger wanted to see a rugby match so we did some research on how to get there and hopped on a local bus.

Sharks teeth on Fire

Went to Suva this morning. We walked along the street and we were stopped at intervals by enthusiastic men who started the conversation with "Bula, where are you from, what would you like to buy" We told them like the fools we are and ended up being taken on a wild goose chase all around Suva. We resolved that the next friendly face we encountered would be tactfully told we were not looking for anything...

The Valuable Mole Skin Book

My daughter Georgia bought a mole skin book for everyone to write in and record little details of the Australian adventure. I can't believe some of the rude comments but when she left and forgot to take it with her I took it on the road-trip.

Who ate all the pies in Australia

Well, Roger and I had a good effort. We have discovered that the pies in Australia are sensational so much so that when we stop at a pie shop Roger has TWO pies.

Evening dresses in the Australian Outback

No-one told me what to pack that is my excuse. We arrived at our first campsite to be greeted by Pete and Rod. Roger and I loved their sense of humour and obvious enjoyment of their job. I looked around and noticed the women were wearing shorts tee shirts and walking boots. What did I have packed....

Screaming Halt

Arrived at the camper van hire place and after a long debate about the fact that they were charging us for an extra day which my brother found totally unfair and got on his high horse about, but apparently all Australian camper van hire companys charge an extra day....we set off

Now is the time to say goodbye

Packed up our stuff into the hire car, hugged the tree on the veranda and said 'goodbye' to our lovely manor house, I found out it was actually called "The Manor" The people next door said they had never seen so many visitors to the house! When they heard our accents they assumed we would be a small family and were astonished when lots of cars kept pulling up outside and the veranda rocked with parties.

Head first and naked down the river!

Nicole took us to Crystal river falls the other day. The water is fresh and clear. I was worried because the access was down steep steps but I persevered and was rewarded by a beautiful sight of a river crashing down through rocks creating natural water falls and slides.

Brown snakes...

The wedding was such a happy occasion. The sun shone the beach setting was like something out of a movie. Nicole's aisle was co-co nuts arranged either side of the sand. We stood behind the co-co nuts and watched her emerge from the tropical forest.
The photographer was amazing he had so much personality, he was really funny, we ended up taking pictures of him too. He was leaping around bending his body into all sorts of impossible shapes to get the right angle, I can't wait to see the results of all his effort.
The lady conducting the service encouraged us to come as close as possible to the bride and groom as they exchanged their vows. The blue sea in the background was just the most perfect setting for such a happy occasion. Of course the bride and groom looked so much in love, I will be posting pictures on this site as soon as I get back to Britain.
Someone had the great idea of retiring to the beach late in the night after the wedding. We had to catch a golf buggy down and the driver warned us that there might be poison brown snakes on the beach.
Well, that was it I was ready to lie down in front of the buggy to stop people going but some had already ventured down on foot so our Gareth took it upon himself to go and warm them all about the danger.
Apparently, when he got down there he picked up a branch and pulled it, unfortunately, it was longer than he though and the top was buried in the sand by the best man Roscoe. When Gareth pulled it it moved and Roscoe leapt up screaming "like a girl" warning everyone there was a snake hissing beside him....well, the following morning at breakfast that story was told over and over again to lots of laughter.
I love Australia it is the best....we have laughed and laughed...last night we held Gareth's birthday in our luxurious house for everyone. Of course we have gotten to know Nicole's family so the party went with such a swing. The Australians certainly know how to hold a BQ as I looked out over the sea at the moon and the flouresent algae I thought to myself, life doesn't get much better than this....
