Bridgend Male Voice Choir

My sister-in-law Jane telephoned me asking if I would like to go to see "The Bridgend Male Voice Choir" I didn't need a second asking, I was surprised to find out that she had left it until the last minute to invite me though as the concert was the following evening in the Catholic Church, Ewenny Road, Bridgend.

Pass the scalpel..

That's the last thing you want to hear when you are sitting prone in the dentist chair "Pass the scalpel, I am just going to remove some of your gum.." Oh, thank you very much I thought to myself as I looked right up his nose...

Fairy Magic and Gavin Henson wets baby's head.

When my grand daughter Casey arrived this morning I had carefully planted some sparkly magic fairy dust around the little fairy door at the bottom of the stairs.

Saucy Car Boot Sale!

Never having held a car boot sale in Bessemer Road, Cardiff we were unable to find the entrance.....kicked Gareth out of the van to ask directions and we were glad to find out that we had just missed the turn-off. Queued patiently with other car booters whilst we waited for the guys on the door to let us in at dead on 9 a.m. Then queued again while they organised our positions.

Hawaii to Los Angeles then home.

When I reached Hawaii, I became homesick. When they stuck me in a room with a balcony facing a wall, I started to talk to it like Shirley Valantine....

Sharks teeth in Fiji

"How can we be sure that is a shark's tooth" asked my brother suspiciously...with that the market stall holder whipped back a sheet and produced the jaw of the dead shark and shook it under our noses. The smell was awful.

Homestay in Fiji

"When people arrive, we can tell if they are going to be good people, we don't have any grumpy people here" Judith confided in me. When I asked for a second cup of tea for breakfast...lunchtime I was presented with a huge mug full to the brim, the family were delighted to give it to me and watched to see my re-action.

Our road trip.

When we set off in our little white camper van after avoiding nearly totalling it within the first couple of minutes...we had no idea what to expect, we had worked out that we wanted to travel north of Cairns but other than that we were pretty much going to play it by ear..

Australian sunset.

My nephew Daniel and his wife Nichole chose the most beautiful house I have ever stayed in for our visit to Australia. It had an enormous veranda with a long table and a day bed. The veranda was the centre point of the holiday everyone congregated there, sunsets, sunrises, meals, games, they were all enjoyed overlooking the sea from our veranda.

The monkey and the kitten in Bali

Don't they make a pretty picture. They performed a dance whilst I eat my meal in their restaurant. Afterwards they visited the tables and gave everyone a flower to place behind their ears.

New Lodgers.

Samui and Deri Dee bounded up the garden to meet me, the children joked that I was more pleased to see the dogs that I was to see them! Also, I was introduced to my new lodgers, April and Jamie. I liked them immediately, April is American and Jamie is from Hereford.

Back in Britain and thrown off a train!

Got to Paddington Station London with plenty of time to spare, I had purchased a cheap ticket on the understanding that you had to catch the train at the time stated on the ticket to take advantage of the reasonable price.

Getting discovered in LA.

My brother Roger and I had a lot of time to contemplate on our lives and what we wanted to do in the future while travelling around Australia. After a nice bottle of wine and listening to Roger's dream, I said "Well, just go to Hollywood next summer and try and become an actor"

Dinner show in Hawaii

Have you ever tried going to a dinner show by yourself. First off the photographer was looking for my companion and when she realised I was on my own she said "oh, you poor thing, how brave!" I didn't feel brave I felt like a big idiot.

Munching on.....and on... in Hawaii

Decided to partake of the local food called "Laulau" it looked interesting. I explained to the guy on the stall that I had no idea what it was and he explained it was a pork dish. Off I trotted with my little plate, he had covered the meal with silver foil. When I finally found a place to eat it I noticed the pork was covered with long green leaves. Interesting...I started to chomp on them with great difficulty, they were stringy and bitter...

Shirley Valantine in Hawaii

"How's it going wall" I found myself saying as I opened my curtains and the blank wall opposite my veranda appeared! Well, it does have its advantages, I don't have to worry about wandering around in a state of undress...
