Shirley Valantine in Hawaii

"How's it going wall" I found myself saying as I opened my curtains and the blank wall opposite my veranda appeared! Well, it does have its advantages, I don't have to worry about wandering around in a state of undress...

I have spend a most enjoyable evening watching a movie on the beach with hundreds of other locals. It was a Johnny Depp pirate film. On the way back to my hotel a group of young people were performing on the street, kick boxing, Hawaii is packed to the seams because of Labour Day, everyone is out for a good time.
I seem to be falling in lucky. Without planning an itinary I came across a man explaining the history of Hawaii, I asked if I could join the group and he said that I could. He was funny and very informative.
I then saw people sitting by the side of the road. I asked a few why they were there, the first couple didn't know, they were just sitting there because everyone else was sitting on the pavement. Sure enough though 10 minutes later there was a parade. The local societies, mayor and government officials drove and walked down the road, smiling and waving to the crowd. It was colourful and reflected the happy feel about the place.
