I am off to the dentist tomorrow for a cap....but tonight I spent a wonderful couple of hours with Pam Ayres...
An old friend of mine had booked tickets for her show so there we were in the Porthcawl Pavillion watching this amazing woman on the stage describing her life...ageing disgracefully...dogs...tickling our sense of humour and making us sniff with empathy at the death of her dog. A one woman show, her only props a table, glass of water and a book and an audience who loved her.
After spending an evening in the comedy club in Cardiff where every other word was a swear word of some kind and the humour was based on being crude and rude (I did laugh mind you) it was a joy to sit and hear her gentle sense of the absurd and the foibles she uncovered that were recognised by everyone present, making them double up with laughter
Has anyone else gone down the wrong stairs on leaving the Pavillion to find the car park around the back and ended up in the gents toilet?
