I attended a meeting of Sova and Unifem last night, I had never heard of the organisation Unifem but on reading their literature I was very impressed by their aims....working for women's empowerment and gender equality....reducing poverty among women...ending violence against women.

Even though I am over the hill, I would have loved to have received some sort of token on Valentine's day...as it was I offered to help out in "The Bee Orchid" delivering bouquets, chocolates, teddies and balloons to a variety of lucky ladies and one gentleman, whose wife had just had twins and had sent him a big bunch of flowers in celebration of their wonderful new arrivals.

Answering the knock on my door I was faced by a young man who explained to me that he had been an offender but was making an effort of going straight by selling products door to door. He stood there shivering in his boots expectantly holding out his credentials and explaining that he had done very well on my road.
