Male Stripper

I thought it was a little strange when a couple of months ago the phone rang and a man on the other end of the line said "Is that the place where you hire a male stripper" I said "no sorry" and put the phone down. I didn't think anymore about it until

Welcome Flyn Gareth...

Well, I hope I don't have to go through the last couple of days again.....having said that I have three girls so I will probably have to endure the endless worry of someone in labour.

I visited the Mountain Centre in the Brecon Beacons today and sat down to eat their excellent home made beef pies. We had the last two available and they were absolutely delicious

Family Curse

I had quite forgotten about our family curse until visiting my neice last night I looked up and to my horror saw three flying ducks stuck up on her wall over her television. I gasped in shock...

Two daughters in Thailand

Well, Georgia is off to spend time with Martha. Martha has been in Thailand since last November. Biggest tip "take a duvet cover, as some of the places we sleep in are a bit suspect" suggested Martha "you can hop inside the cover and it will keep you safe from bugs and unsavoury sheets"

Look out there is a Ninja about

My daughter was trying to help me back into a parking space. "Mam you need to turn the wheel the other way" she explained. I looked over her shoulder to see a young man looking extremely puzzled and amused. My daughter was standing hand on hips, as you do, dressed as a teenage mutant ninja turtle, concentrating on the job in hand, she had completely forgotten what an idiot she looked.

Not throwing co-co nuts anymore

I recently tried to cut down on my outgoings, by trying one of those comparison sites on the computer, to discover whether I was getting a good deal on my electricity or gas. To my surprise I could save £100 by switching, so I did, as they said, and with one quick phone call I had completed the swap.

We're all going on a Summer Holiday

Well, it is booked! Flying into Budapest then on to Slovenia. The family in Slovenia are flying to my timeshare in Orlando and we will have their house. Chris my lodger told me that there was a good site on the internet called Virtual tourist, ordinary people post their views on a country they have visited and give tips on who and what to avoid....or good places to go.

Caswell Bay

Claire of "The Bee Orchid" has only a matter of weeks before she has her baby. She had the chance to know the sex but decided that she would much prefer to have a surprise, there has been a lot of conjecture about the way she is carrying determining the sex but nothing has been decided. As she was kicking about her house on maternity leave I asked her to join me on my visit to my Aunt and a day out in Caswell Bay.

Roman Ruins

The history around Cutrofiano was fascinanting, we visited Otranto where they have 800 skulls displayed in their church. The Turks came over and demanded they give up their religion and they refused. With that each one of them was beheaded children included 14 years and over.

Italian Pottery

We stayed in an idyllic little village called Cutrofiano in Italy, everyone knew we were holidaymakers as we were the only ones there. We were treated to giggles in the local supermarket as the women had their morning chat, I joined in as best I could with my smattering of Spanish, oh, and a bit of Welsh thrown in accidentally...

Metal Detecting

I am now a fully fledged member of my local metal detecting club. I literally stepped off the plane from Italy into a muddy field in the shadow of the Brecon Beacons. It was an early start we had to meet at the Storey Arms and then we drove to the farm where we had been given the permission of the farmer to dig.

Italian hospitality

Easter Monday and we couldn't find a shop or restaurant open anywhere and we were starving, the roads were deserted we were resolved to go back to the villa and eat the few olives and cheese that were lurking around in the fridge.

The Mafia

Venturing out in the dark for a meal and a glass of the local vino in Cutrofiano, Italy was definately on the cards. Muggins here drove of course but who could have predicted what happened on the way home..
