The sunny weather brings out the fool in everyone, we proved to be perfect examples...Natalie and I that is.....off we set for a barbeque on Ogmore Beach, the sun was shining all was well with the world, everything would have been fine if...
We had left the four dogs in the house. Oh, and if we hadn't decided to carry the heaviest table in the world, with the heaviest lounger in the word and the heaviest bag of charcoal in the world. You would have thought that after having four children and numerous outings to the beach I would have learned my lesson by now, but no....I took the world and the kitchen sink with me.
When we eventually set up camp I thought that I was going to die of exhaustion. Everytime my back was turned my little chihuahua Samui challenged the biggest dogs he could find to a fight...much to the amusement, thank goodness, of the dogs in question. Cariad, Natalie's dog annoyed anyone with a ball on the beach by insisting it was hers and spoiling their games.
Deri Dee decided everyone on the beach was her personal enemy and barked and sniffed at children, upsetting the parents. That just left Smudge he found the bag of food and made his bed on it, covered everything in sand.
It was time to leave but Cariad decided that she wanted to stay, she turned a deaf ear to all our calls, so we thought we would call her bluff and go back to the car. We packed everything away...still no sign of Cariad. We looked down onto the beach and there she was with her new friends playing with a ball.
I could see Natalie was at her wits end so I volunteered to get Cariad. Fair play to her she did follow me up to the car, but as soon as she realised that we were trying to get her home she jumped out of the car back down onto the beach. It slowly began to dawn on us that there would be one lost collie dog on Ogmore beach as we were running out of time and energy. Logan was screaming his head off ...
Natalie decided that she would give it one more shot and thankfully Cariad had worn herself out too much to escape Natalie's clutches. Planning to go again next week, we had such a good time, but the dogs will be staying at home, well....we will see....
